Funeral of Mr G S Titheradge
The funeral of the late Mr. George S. Titheradge took place at South Head Cemetery, Sydney, on Monday afternoon. A service was held in the unpretentious, but picturesque, little parish church of St. Michael at Vauclause.
It was largely attended by representatives of the profession the deceased had so long adorned, and the wealth of floral tributes which surrounded the casket bore eloquent testimony to the tender regard in which Mr. Titheradge was held by all sections of the community.
Archdeacon Irvine delivered an impressive address, and quoted the deceased’s farewell words at a matinee recently tendered him by playgoers of Australia: “I have fought the good fight, and the battle is now over. What the future has in store for me I know not but I approach it in the confidence that duty fairly done entitles me to do.” He was a great man, said the archdeacon, who could approach his end like that – too great a man to be an unbeliever. He lived a good life, and loved the works of God Almighty.

In Memorium
Alfred Titheridge Buried 26th April aged 38.
We have to record with deep regret the loss of another soldier of the war. Alfred Titheridge joined up in June 1916, and was in France until the end of the year, when he went into hospital. After a course of treatment in England until January 1917, he was detailed for a time to agricultural work at Raglington Farm in our parish. However, his health did not allow him to continue work and he was discharged in November last. He went afterward to Netley Hospital for treatment and died on 23 April after an operation. He had been a member of the bellringers band for eighteen years and their captain for the last seven years and during that time, except for his military service, he had been in employed in the Shedfield Lodge gardens. He bore his illness with great cheerfulness and courage and sincere sympathy will be felt with Mrs. Titheridge and her family in their bereavement.

For several years after 1916 he devoted himself to authorship and production. He has written “Jim the Rat”, “The District Visitor”, “Taken on Trust”, “A Girl of To-day”, “Peg for Short”, “A Wife’s Dilemma”, “The K.C.”, “Something to His Advantage”, “The Name”, “Kate-a-Whim sies”, “Puppets”, “The Odd Spot”, “Jim Quixote”, “Loose Ends”, “The Apache”, “The Crooked Billet”, ‘The End”, “The Tiger in Men”, “Rich Man, Poor Man”, “Folly to be Wise”, “Frailties”, “Fanfare”. He was also part author of many successful revues. An association with Mr. Kenneth Duffield, of South Australia, resulted in several successful revues, including “Puss, Puss”, “Snap”, and “Pot Luck”. Mr. Titheradge also wrote scenarios for the cinema, the best known being “Mr. Bill, the Conqueror”. Mr. Titheradge was a brother of the actress Madge Titheradge, who was also born in Melbourne, and of Lily Titheradge (Mrs. E. H. Knowles), now living privately in Sydney. He leaves a widow.

January 1981 John Percival Titheradge
The Radio and Electronic Engineer
John Percival Titheradge died on 6 September 1980 aged 60 after a long illness. John Titheradge was born and educated in London, served in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers during the war, part of the time as an instructor at the Military College of Science and later as Warrant Officer at base workshops in India and Malaya. On demobilisation in June 1946 he was appointed Senior wireless Technician at the Home Office. Later he was promoted to be Chief Wireless Technician following open competition and during this period he was involved in design and development of communication equipment and systems with the police. In 1951 Mr Titheradge moved to the then Ministry of Civil Aviation with whom he remained for some 16 years; he was principally occupied with the design and development of air to ground communications including those for the new terminal buildings at London Heathrow. In 1970 he returned to the Home Office Directorate of Communications as Chief Wireless Engineer and was concerned with the des8ghk development and specification of communication systems for the fire and ambulance services and civil defence. In 1977 he was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and in June of that year resigned from the Civil Service hoping to take up consultancy but the onset of a progressive illness prevented this. During the 50s Mr. Titheradge took an active part in seeking recognition of Institution qualification within the government service. John Titheradge was widely known in the communications field and former friends and colleagues may like to know there is a memorial fund which is to be devoted to the installation of sound amplification equipment in the Dormansland Baptist Church.

Beryl will be sadly missed and remembered by her family in Winnipeg: Bill Guy, her husband of 45 years; her daughter Cathie (Dennis) Pickerl; sons, Rob and David (Nellie) Guy; grandsons, Andrew and Riley Pickerl, and Travis and Eric Guy; granddaughter Madeline Pickerl; and by her family in British Columbia: brother Bill (Norma) Titheridge; and nieces, Susan McAllister and Lynn Powell. Jan 2011 John Titheridge
Sadly, I have to report the death of John Titheridge on 27 December, 2010. He was 78 and died with his family in Auckland, New Zealand, after being diagnosed as having cancer earlier in the year. John will be known to many of you through his early work on TEC, and of course POLAN, the true-height ionogram inversion program used so widely. He was finalizing some notes on the latest version of POLAN, although most of his time over recent years was spent with All Africa Mission work.

27 August 2015 William John (Bill) Titheradge
The Daily Courier Penticton Herald
Titheridge, William John “Bill”: On the morning of August 27, just shy of his 60th wedding anniversary, Bill passed away in his sleep following a brief illness. He is survived by his loving wife, Norma, his daughter Susan and her daughters Erin and Jenna and his daughter Lynn and her children Alyssa, Zachary and Griffin (Nicki). He goes to join his son Blair who passed away in 1984. He will be missed by all his family as well as a host of friends and acquaintances from his years in business and his involvement with a wide variety of community groups. Bill was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 26, 1929. He, his wife and his three young children moved to Penticton in 1962 looking for a good place to raise their family and establish themselves in business. He opened Penticton Stationary in 1962 and thereafter he opened Okanagan Books. He was a well-regarded leader of the Downtown Business Association from 1962 to 1990 as well being a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the B.C. Booksellers Association and the Canadian Booksellers Association. He was also an active member of the Penticton Regional Hospital Board for many years and was a long-time member of KIWANIS. He was an extremely intelligent man who worked hard and long to make his businesses succeed and ensure his family’s happiness. Following his and wife Norma’s retirement, the two set off to explore shores near and far, including a cruise through the North Sea including a stop in St. Petersburg, Russia, a trip to Asia with adventures in China, Malaysia and Thailand and a wild adventure through Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific. They rode elephants in Asia, camels in North Africa and cruised the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean Sea. And in the midst of that, Bill and Norma went RV-ing across much of Canada, the United States and Mexico but they always managed to keep in touch with friends with yearly visits to places like Bucerias, Mexico, and the Phoenix area in Arizona before returning to B.C. to check in on their children and grandchildren. He was a wonderful husband, a loving father, an indulgent grandfather and an excellent friend, colleague, business person and community advocate. The family wishes to thank all of the personnel in Medical 3 South at Penticton Regional Hospital who took such good care of Bill at the end of his life, and Dr. Jack Kooy and his staff. There will be no service by his request. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Penticton Regional Hospital Foundation. Condolences may be shared by visiting http://www.everdenrust.com
